Turi Gramstad Oliver (1938 - ) was educated as a ceramist at the National Arts and Crafts School in Oslo in 1956-1958, while she worked at Kari Nyquist's pottery workshop. She then continued at the Arts and Crafts School in Bergen until 1960. Prior to her education, she worked at Stavangerflint, where she worked closely with Inger Waage. She had workshop practice in the UK in 1961.
In 1960, she was employed as a designer at Figgjo Fajanse AS, where over twenty years she created many of this company's most famous decorations, that became known as 'Turi design': 'Arden', 'Elvira', 'Market', 'Lotte', 'Tor Viking', 'Clúpea' and many more.
In 1968, Figgjo Fajanse AS was merged with her former workplace Stavangerflint AS and from 1968 to 1980 she made decorations that were also produced by this company.
She left Figgjo in 1980 to continue working as a handicraft- and visual artist, focusing on fabrics and paper.
